At the meeting attended by the National Guard Officers, the officials went over the activities included in the 2019 Bilateral Defense Cooperation Program, while there was also an agreement upon the 2020 activities including joint exercises and training.

At the end of the meeting, the Bilateral Cooperation Program for 2020 was signed between the Ministries of Defense of the Republic of Cyprus and the Kingdom of Jordan.

Both sides described the program as living proof of the two countries’ willingness to further deepen and strengthen their cooperation in the fields of defense and security. It was agreed, inter alia, to carry out joint exercises with the participation of special forces of the Republic of Cyprus and Jordan.

It is noted that the Cyprus has previously participated in Task Force Command Special Teams and has been very successful in the Multinational Eager Lion Exercise, which was held in Jordan. The exercise is aimed at countering terrorism and involves Special Forces from the US, Jordan, Greece and Lebanon. /ibna
