Cyprus begins debating 2018 state budget

The 2018 state budget of Cyprus will be discussed from this Monday and until November 27 before the House Committee on Financial and Budgetary Affairs. Financial minister Harris Georgiades will be present during the talks whereas, on the final day, the Central Bank Governor Chrystalla Georghadji will also attend the meeting.

Georgiades is expected to analyse government revenue, present the financial indexes and policy as well as the economic status of the country.

According to the Finance minister, the 2018 budget, including the medium term fiscal framework for 2018 – 2020, is balanced. Both of them were submitted on 4 October. The CNA reports that the upcoming budget is “with no new taxes and no new measures” that would burden households and businesses. However, “it but includes several new policies and several new projects.”…/IBNA
