The answer Ankara for its positions regarding the issue of the EEZ and hydrocarbons expects Nicosia, according to statements of the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Cyprus Ioannis Kasoulides.
As Kasoulides revealed, the government prepared its written position, based on what was agreed at the last Council of Leader and then sent it to Vice President of the Greek Government Evangelos Venizelos, who transferred it to Ankara.
He said that Turkey accepts to discuss on the position of Nicosia and is expected to give its views on the Greek government.
Kasoulides said that the snding of Cypriot positions was agreed during the visit of the Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras in Cyprus and stressed that depending on Turkey’s response, any decisions will be taken by President Nikos Anastasiades, as soon as he will be able to return to office, after the restoration of his health.
“There is no scenario”, said the Cypriot Minister and thanked the Greek government for its efforts.
“Of all the other mediators, who rushed from the beginning propose mediating solutions to the issue that was created with the “Barbaros”, I think the most suitable to trust is Greece”, he added.
Finally, to a question on the possible energy cooperation between Turkey and Russia, Kasoulides replied that this should trouble Europe, which was concerned on the role of Ukraine and the closing of the tap via Ukraine and is now close to leaving the tap in the hands of Mr. Erdogan.
