In a special ceremony to be held on Monday night in Athens, the President of the Republic Nicos Anastasiades will be awarded the Gold Medal of Honor of the Municipality of Athens, in recognition of his efforts for the reunification of Cyprus and the peaceful resolution of the Cyprus issue.
The decision of the Municipal Council of the Municipality of Athens for the award of the Gold Medal of Honor of the Municipality to President Anastasiades was taken with the following reasoning:
“In recognition of his efforts to date for the peaceful reunification of Sister Cyprus, for the benefit of the entire Cypriot people, the retention of the indestructible and unbreakable Greek-Cypriot ties, the steadfast defense of the democratic and human values that unite us, the dedication upon the vision of a Europe rooted in solidarity, development and social cohesion and his unwavering commitment to peace and prosperity in the Eastern Mediterranean and worldwide, in accordance with the principles of international law”.
Earlier, at 7 pm, President Anastasiades will have a personal meeting with the Mayor of Athens Kostas Bakoyannis, at the Municipal Palace.
The ceremony of awarding the Gold Medal will follow at 7.45 pm, in the amphitheater of the Technopolis of the Municipality. Afterwards, the President of the Republic, accompanied by his wife Andris Anastasiades, will be shown around the Goulandris Museum.
Afterwards, the President of the Republic will attend a dinner hosted by the Municipality of Athens in his honor.
Meanwhile, at noon on October 26, the President of the Republic and his wife will attend a private dinner hosted by the Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis and his wife at their home.
The President of the Republic will return to Cyprus on the morning of October 27. /ibna
