Cyprus: Anastasiades meets with representatives from the Health Sector

The President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades, during today’s meeting with the State Health Services Organization (SHSO) and the doctors’ and nurses’ unions, reaffirmed the Government’s determination to protect and strengthen the health system and gave instructions for the implementation of specific actions, according to Deputy Government Spokesman Panayiotis Sentonas.

Speaking from the Presidential Palace after the meeting, Panayiotis Sentonas said that “the President of the Republic presided over a meeting with the leadership of SHSO and representatives of the guilds of doctors and nurses, in the presence of the Minister of Health and the Director General of the Ministry of Health.

During the meeting, the President of the Republic of Cyprus was informed about the current situation in public hospitals and the problems that exist.

Afterwards they discussed and exchanged views on important issues, such as human resource needs and staffing of public hospitals, staff training, equipment and consumables availability , the completion of infrastructure and planning projects, and the reconstruction of public hospitals.

I note that the President of the Republic reassured the participants in the meeting for the determination of the Government in relation to the protection and strengthening of the health system, and giving out instructions for the implementation of specific actions.
