President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades held a series of meetings with Heads of State and Government today on the sidelines of the United Nations Climate Change Summit (COP26).
The President of the Republic arrived this morning at the venue of the Summit in Glasgow, where he was received by the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson, whose country is hosting the Summit, and by the United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
In the margins of the Summit, the President of the Republic had the opportunity to meet, among others, the President of the European Council Charles Michel, the President of Egypt Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, the President of Ukraine, the Prime Ministers of Spain, Malta, Luxembourg, Libya, Kenya, Kuwait and others, with whom he discussed issues of common interest relevant to the agenda of the Summit.
President Anastasiades then attended the interventions of the Heads of State scheduled to speak at the opening of the Summit today.
In the afternoon, the President of the Republic will attend the reception hosted by the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom in honour of the Heads of State and Government participating in the Summit.
The President of the Republic was accompanied at the Summit by the Minister of Agriculture, Natural Resources and the Environment, Costas Kadis, the Government Spokesman Marios Pelicanos and the High Commissioner of the Republic to the United Kingdom, Andreas Kakouris.
