The intention of the Government of the Republic of Cyprus to contribute, either in the framework of FRONTEX or bilaterally, in addressing the challenges Greece is facing today was expressed by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nicos Anastasiades, to the Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, deputy government spokesman Panagiotis Sedonas said today.
In a statement to reporters at the Presidential Palace, Panagiotis Sentontas said that “the President of the Republic had long telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, during which the Greek Prime Minister informed him of the organized effort of Turkey to channel immigrants to Greece, in a bid to blackmail the European Union.
The President of the Republic of Cyprus conveyed to the Prime Minister of Greece the intention of the Government to contribute, either within the framework of FRONTEX or bilaterally, in addressing the challenges that Greece is facing, which are also European challenges.
The Prime Minister expressed his warmest thanks to the President of the Republic, stressing that he cannot ignore the fact that Cyprus too faces similar challenges as a result of Turkey’s policy.
In view of the European Foreign and Home Affairs Councils, President Anastasiades and the Greek Prime Minister have agreed to remain in constant contact”./ibna
