The Defence Minister of the Republic of Cyprus, Savvas Angelidis, will be in Austria today, to take part in the informal meeting of Defense Ministers of the European Union.
The summit will begin tonight in the evening with a working dinner where Ministers will have the opportunity to discuss the EU’s engagement in the Western Balkans, within the framework of the EU’s Common Defence and Security Policy (CSDP). Also present in the works will be NATO Deputy Secretary-General, Rose Gottemoeller, as well as the UN Deputy Secretary-General responsible for peacekeeping missions, Jean-Pierre Lacroix.
The works will be resumed tomorrow morning, where the Ministers, in view of the November Foreign Affairs Council, will give political guidance on EU security and defence issues. In particular, the Agenda includes the discussion on the European Peace Facility-EPF and developments in the Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO), as well as the exchange of views on the possibilities of Military Planning and Conduct Capability aptitude-MPCC./IBNA
