Croatia is this year’s partner country for the “f.re.e. travel and recreation” fair in Munich. F.re.e. is one of Germany’s most important travel shows, which is organized every year with a different partner country.

The fair started on Tuesday 19 and will close on Sunday 23.

The Croatian Minister of Tourism, Darko Lorencin, spoke at the fair’s opening saying that it was logical for Germany to choose Croatia as its partner country given that the two countries have had excellent relations. He went on to say that this choice was indicative of  further growth in the number of German tourists visiting Croatia.

According to the Minister of Tourism, by 2020 Croatia plans to invest €7bn for the construction of new hotels and tourism infrastructure, inviting Germans and Bavarians to visit Croatia and experience the county’s potential for themselves.

The opening of the fair was also attended  by fair director Reihard Pfeiffer and a state secretary of the Bavarian Economy Ministry, Franz Joseph Pschierer, both of whome underlined the good relations between Croatia and Bavaria and the interest of Bavarian holidaymakers in Croatia.

Bavarian tourists account for about 30% of the German tourists who choose Croatia for their vacation destination.
