Croatia: Božinović announced the tighter control of the actual measures

The Croatian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Davor Božinović said on Monday after the Civil Protection Headquarters that members of the Staff meeting with the Prime Minister, that they analysed the current situation related to the coronavirus epidemic in Croatia.

The numbers of newly infected and hospitalized are growing, he said, which was expected given the arrival of colder weather and a longer stay indoors.

Božinović once again called for adherence to basic epidemiological measures as well as as much vaccination as possible, because in addition there is no better protection.

He added that although vaccinated people can also be infected and, unknowingly, spread the virus, vaccination is still the best protection against severe forms of the disease.

In terms of anti-epidemic measures, Minister Božinović said that today’s meeting focused on the intensified control over the implementation of those measures that are already in force, such as wearing masks indoors, given that this obligation has recently been taken lightly.

Also, talks will continue regarding the fact that almost a quarter of infected newcomers are from the school system, so it will be seen how the upcoming holidays could be used so that possibly those two working days in the week after All Saints do not go to school. However, he stressed, this possibility will be discussed during the day.

The third dose, ie the booster dose of the vaccine, will be intensified for those citizens for whom it is recommended according to scientific research.

Asked if there will be tightening measures and will expand usage Covid confirmation, Minister Božinović said that it is primarily important to strongly insist on the respect of measures that are already in force, especially on the use of masks indoors.
