Thirty MPs of opposition parties in the RS National Assembly (RSNA), gathered in the Alliance for Change, signed a criminal complaint against the RS Prime Minister, Zeljka Cvijanovic, and the Minister of Finance, Zoran Tegeltija, because they consider them responsible for the new loan of 300 million US dollars.
Representatives of the National Democratic Movement, the Serbian Democratic Party, the Party of Democratic Progress and Party Prosperous Srpska, submitted the criminal complaint on Thursday to District Prosecutor’s Office in Banja Luka. After this act, the president of the NDP, Dragan Cavic, told reporters that the credit contract with the American fund worth 300 million US dollars is illegal and unconstitutional.
“In this case, RS Constitution is clear and says that such contract may authorize exclusively the RSNA and nobody else. We tried to stop this credit and in this case we don’t have any other legal option than these charges. By submitting these documents we show that we are not the ones who exert pressure upon the RS but rather to protect its constitutional order”, Cavic said.
He added that, due to this loan, he filed an appeal with the Constitutional Court of the RS but that he received no reply and the parties which are members of the Alliance for Change decided that this way can represent a good an attempt to locate the responsibility for the new debt. Criminal charges, as he said, are referring on the crimes against the constitutional system and at least two criminal offenses.
“We insist that judicial institutions cleared up this issue because the government has made a decision on credit obligations that will not return the members of the government, but citizens of the RS”, Cavic said.
The head of the SDS Caucus in the RSNA, Vukota Govedarica, pointed out that the RS Constitution is decisive in terms of who can approve the assignment of contract like this and from the Constitution is derived the Law on Debt and Guarantees of RS.
“The Government has not complied with the Constitution and the law, and the only thing we could do to protect the Constitution and citizens was to file a criminal complaint”, Govedarica said.
Milan Svraka, delegate of the PDP in the RSNA said that this is a signal to the RS citizens that anything outside the law should not remain unprosecuted while Goran Djordjic, MP of Prosperous Srpska, pointed out that the Government with the latest loan closed the circle of destruction of the RS.
RS Prime Minister, Zeljka Cvijanovic, told reporters in Mrkonjic Grad that “the RS opposition is a zany bunch that obstruct everything that may be good for the Republic”.
Asked to comment on the criminal charges against her and Finance Minister Zoran Tegeltija, which opposition parties representatives submitted to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Banja Luka, Cvijanovic said that they have the right to do whatever they think they must.
“They are obstructionist of everything good that can and should happen in the RS and trying to heal their frustrations even in this way”, Cvijanovic said.
