Crime has turned into a worrying phenomenon, says leader of the Albanian opposition

Leader of the Albanian opposition, Lulzim Basha received today a delegation of German MPs comprised of Thorsten Frei, Christian Petry, Andrej Hunko, Manuel Sarrazin, members of the Committee for European Affairs at the Bundestag.

Stopping in the developments in the country, Basha expressed the concern of the opposition for the “ground gained by organized crime and traffickers and the penetration of crime in high levels of the administration and the Parliament of Albania”.

“The implementation of the December 24 agreement for decriminalization requires political will and determination”, said Mr. Basha.

The leader of the Democratic Party briefed German MPs about the concerns that exist over the fact that the rule of law has been attacked and the dismantling of standards in the foundations of democracy, such as human rights, constitutional rights of the opposition, the control of independent institutions, massive layoffs of public servants and their replacement with militants.

Bundestag MPs epraised the stance of the Democratic Party and unconditionally backed all incentives that relate to the European integration of the country. /ibna/
