Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci declared today that the Special Tribunal for the war crimes in Kosovo, is being created to preserve international partnership.
During a joint press conference delivered today with his Albanian counterpart, Ditmir Bushati (photo), Thaci said that Kosovo didn’t need this tribunal, but according to him, this will be done.
“Parliament has voted the creation of the Special Tribunal. This is not a necessary tribunal for Kosovo, but it has to be formed in order to preserve international partnership. Kosovo has nothing to fear. I’m convinced that we will come out as winners, like we did in Hague”, Thaci declared.
Albania’s Foreign Minister, Ditmir Bushati said that the concept of the war for freedom must not be confused with the war crimes in the formation of this tribunal.
“We must be careful not to confuse the war for liberation with the creation of his tribunal”, Bushati said.
Meanwhile, asked by journalists as to the consequences of refusing to establish this tribunal, Thaci said that in this case, alleged war crimes would be tried by a UN court.
“We must be careful as a political spectrum about the decisions that we make. If we don’t establish it, it will be established by the UN”, Thaci said.
Both ministers said that bilateral cooperation between Kosovo and Albania will be more effective in the future.
Meanwhile, Albania’s Foreign Minister, Ditmir Bushati said that he was happy with the collaboration that exists between Albania and Kosovo in politics and economy. /ibna/
