Court of Appeal has released today the former governor of the Bank of Albania, Ardian Fullani by remanding him into house arrest. The lawyer of Ardian Fullani, Maks Haxhia said that as a professional and a citizen, he cannot say that justice spoke today.
“It was a decision which even though it was in our favor, was not what we expected. We will appeal. Oversight Committee has no criminal responsibility”, said Haxhiaj after the end of the court session which lasted one hour and 30 minutes.
The Court of Appeal has deliberated today the security measures for the senior officials who were arrested after the theft of 713 million ALL from the treasury.
After the session, former governor Fullani declared that he has worked in an honest way as the head of the central bank.
He declared that the news of the theft came as a thunder in blue sky, while considering it as a serious event which was promptly denounced.
Fullani also said that measures should be taken for such events not to be repeated again.
Meanwhile, the Court of Appeal has demanded to uphold the ruling of the Court of First Instance which remands into custody the General Inspector of the Bank of Albania, Elivar Golemi. /ibna/
