Slovenian MEP and European Parliament rapporteur on FYR Macedonia, Ivo Vajgl has declared that FYR Macedonia may lose its recommendation for accession in the European Union.
“Macedonia may lose its recommendation for accession in the European Union, due to the wiretapping scandals made public by the opposition. There are growing doubts within political circles in the EU about the ability of the country to meet the criteria of a democratic country, for which it has committed”, said MEP Vajgl.
Vajgl stressed the need for political parties in the country to find the path of talks and dialogue for a solution of the crisis.
“The EU cannot impose a solution for the problems that have been created in the country. This would be achieved through constructive talks by political parties”, said the EP rapporteur on FYROM.
MEP Vajgl along with Eduard Kukan and Richard Howitt have been recently mentioned as EU emissaries for the negotiation of a solution for the political crisis in FYROM. /ibna/
