The Council of Europe has issued a report drafted by Nils Muiznieks, commissioner for Human Rights, following a visit to Kosovo from 5 to 9 February of this year, a mission which was focused on the issue of justice, social cohesion and freedom of the media.
As far as freedom of media is concerned, the report says that the law guarantees media in Kosovo to have access to public documents.
But, the report also says that institutions not always allow journalists to have access to public documents, even in cases when courts have ruled in their favor.
Thus, commissioner Muiznieks report mentions the case when the Prime Minister’s office didn’t allow Balkan Investigative Reporting Network to have access in documents that relate to the expenses of the Prime Minister of Kosovo and his subordinates during their visits abroad. /balkaneu.com/
