Apostle Tzitzikostas seems indirectly to support Kyriakos Mitsotakis in the second round of the elections for the new president of the conservative party of New Democracy. The contenders now are Vangelis Meimarakis (with 39,51% in the first round) and Kyriakos Mitsotakis (28,27%). The winner will be the one who will get the votes of the party members that in the first round supported either Tzitzikostas (who had 21,15% of votes) or Georgiadis (who had 11,07%)
Georgiadis has openly admitted that he wishes his supporters voted for Mitsotakis in the second round. Tzitzikostas was not at all so clear, and tried to keep equal distances and a certain neutrality, but reading between the lines, one can see that he’d rather prefer his voters to chose Mitsotakis in the second round.
The fact that both Tzitzikostas and Georgiadis probably align in supporting Mitsotakis is an indication that Mitsotakis is the most probable winner in the election to come. Yet no one can predict with certainty what the party members will do, regardless of what the candidates who lost in the first round might suggest directly or indirectly as the best choice.
