Concrete renewable energy projects in Montenegro

Podgorica, June 10, 2013

Southeastern Europe Transitional Program funded by the European Union is implementing in Montenegro “M2RES-from marginal terrains into aerial terrains for renewable energy” project.

M2RES project aims to recover neglected areas such as landfills, mines, military areas/warehouses and contaminated areas through investments for renewable energy sources.

The project which is being implemented in Ulcinj demonstrates the participation of many partners from the European Union (Italy, Slovenia, Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Austria) and the countries involved in the pre-accession process (Montenegro, Serbia, Albania).

Project leaders said during the conference held on this occasion (photo) that it involves different public institutions from Montenegro, while cooperation is taking place with different banks to secure the continuation of the funding.

M2RES project aims to carry out 40 investments in the domain of renewable energy. The total value of the project is 1.8 million Euros, whereby the commune of  Ulcinj has offered 80 thousand Euros. /ibna/
