“Albania is part of the European family, historically, geographically and in terms of the geopolitical instability that we encounter, we share the same challenges as Albania, in particular in the fight against illegal emigration, border management and a more efficient fight against organized crime and terrorism. We share a common history and our joint future will also be a European future”.
This declaration was made today from Tirana by the European Commission for Emigration, Home Affairs and Citizenship, Dimitris Avramopoulos.
According to him, the strategy of Western Balkans represents an ambitious agenda for Albania and the region and Albania has a window of historical opportunity to tie its future to the EU.
“We all remember several years ago what Albania represented for the world. Today I’m impressed by what you’ve achieved in the domain of justice and home affairs”, the commissioner added.
Meanwhile, stopping on the agreement signed with FRONTEX for the Coastal and Border Guard, Avramopoulos said that this agreement will ensure a better management of illegal emigration.
On the other hand, in terms of the signature of the memorandum of understanding that has to do with the fight against drugs, he said that “Albania will be able to have access to funds in the future and use them for drug related policies”. /balkaneu.com/
