The World Bank says that the climate of doing business in Albania has deteriorated. This deterioration is significant, as compared to last year’s report, Albania has dropped 35 places in the general ranking of 189 countries.
Last year, Albania ranked 62nd in the doing business ranking, but this year, our country ranks 97th.
Almost all the indexes taken into account by the World Bank show a big drop.
The country’s business climate has mostly deteriorated due to the lack of construction permits. As far as taxes are concerned, Albania has dropped 12 places.
In terms of opening a new business, the country has dropped 4 places.
Meanwhile, in terms of borrowing, Albania has dropped 6 places as opposed to a year ago.
In the recent report of the World Bank, Albania ranks last in the Balkan region. At the top of the list is FYR Macedonia, which is not only at the top of the list of Western Balkans countries, but also top of the general list, ranking on the 12th position among the countries with the best business climate. Kosovo too has a good ranking, being listed 66th, almost in the same position as Albania compared to last year. /ibna/
