Massive celebrations were held last night in Gostivar, the birthplace of the German football national team player, Shkodran Mustafi. His fellow citizens celebrated Germany’s victory, but also the victory of Shkodran Mustafi, who is the first Albanian to receive a golden medal in a football world cup.
A giant screen was installed in the main square of Gostivar to watch Germany’s match and the festive atmosphere under which Germany was celebrating.
Mustafi debuted in the world cup in the match against Portugal in the group stage, while he was injured in the quarter final against Algeria and missed the big final. Nevzat Bejta was the organizer of the festive ceremony, saying that their town was proud for the player of the German national team, who originates from this country.
Gostivar has also had another star in Brazil 2014. He’s Admir Mehmedi, who plays for the Swiss national team and who became the first Albanian to score in a world cup. /ibna/
