Christodoulides heads to Sofia on an official visit

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides will be travelling this afternoon to Sofia, where he will be paying an official visit.

As part of the visit, Nikos Christodoulides will have a private meeting tomorrow on Friday 24 January with Bulgarian Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva, followed by an extensive consultation in the presence of institutional representatives from the two countries’ Foreign Ministries, and then the two Ministers will address the press

Discussions will include bilateral relations and the prospect of further strengthening them in various areas; current issues on the European Union’s agenda, including issues related to energy and energy security; the escalating illegal activities by Turkey in the maritime zones of Cyprus and the overall situation in the Eastern Mediterranean region; the latest developments in the Cyprus issue, as well as other regional and international issues of common interest.

During his official visit in Sofia, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will be received, in separate meetings, by Bulgarian President Rumen Radev, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and Bulgarian Parliament Speaker Tsveta Karayancheva./ibna
