Cypriot Foreign Affairs Minister Nikos Christodoulides participated this afternoon in the second teleconference of Ministers of the EU of Member States Group on the initiative of the German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas, for the exchange of views and coordination on promoting and facilitating policies aimed at restarting the EU tourism industry and gradually lifting restrictions on the basis of the European Commission’s guidelines.
The teleconferences were also attended by the Foreign Ministers of Spain, Italy, France, Austria, Greece, Croatia, Portugal, Malta, Slovenia, Bulgaria and the Netherlands, which alongside Cyprus constitute popular tourist destinations for Germans tourists.
In his speech, Nikos Christodoulides referred to the positive performance recorded by Cyprus in dealing with the pandemic, having adopted timely measures to prevent the spread of the disease, which highlight Cyprus as a safe tourist destination. Nikos Christodoulides presented the general plan of the Republic of Cyprus for the resumption of the tourism industry, as well as the measures to ensure good epidemiological data that are considered a priority for the Government. /ibna
