“If we don’t receive an invitation from NATO in the near future, the challenge that Macedonia will face will not be the protection of its territorial integrity and sovereignty, but a slowdown in the development of democratic institutions and economic development”, said the NATO national coordinator, Stevo Pendarovski in a panel of discussions on the challenges of FYROM.
“The government is expecting the country to become a NATO member and that we will receive an invitation in the Brussels’ summit. I and other government representatives also talk about other alternative scenarios and this is a normal reaction by responsible politicians”, Pendarovski said.
As far as the issue of the name is concerned, Pendarovski said that the next 10-15 days are very critical for this process and that he is hoping for a solution that will please both sides to be found. /ibna/
