Chairwoman of the Central Election Commission (CEC), Valdete Daka issued a declaration today where she asked from political parties to be more attentive and offer their contribution in holding free and democratic elections.
“As a CEC, we will also collaborate with other relevant institutions for the preparation of the elections, while we expect from political parties to comply with the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo, the laws in power and electoral rules. We also expect political parties to offer their contribution in holding these elections”, said Daka.
Daka said that she had received the decision of President Jahjaga, who has decreed June 8 as the date for the elections.
“As you know, a few moments ago, the President of the Republic of Kosovo has decreed June 8 as the date for the parliamentary elections. Based on its powers, the Central Election Commission will take all legal steps to prepare the early parliamentary elections with the only scope of these elections to be fair, democratic and according to international standards”.
According to her, CEC expects these elections to have a large number of local and international monitors.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to wish to all the citizens of Kosovo successful elections and also to those political parties who will be certified in these elections by the Central Election Commission”. /ibna/
