Census in North Macedonia was set for April 2020. But this important operation for the country has been postponed once again, due to early elections scheduled for April 12, 2020.
After agreeing to the elections yesterday, the parties said there was room for a census, however today the State Statistical Office said this was impossible. The director of the agency, Apolostol Simovski, said the registration was unlikely to be organized and developed. According to him, at best this process will take place in November 2020, if the new Law on Census is adopted in the Assembly before the new year.
“The problem is we have not adopted the law”, Simovski said. On the other hand, VMRO DPMNE has submitted 23 requests for intervention in the new law, which according to them has many shortcomings and does not ensure a transparent and efficient process. North Macedonia is again entering the polls without an accurate account of its population./ibna
