Four types of medications containing cannabis oil can be found in the drugstores all over FYROM. This medication can only be obtained on prescription by a doctor and can be used for patients suffering of serious diseases and HIV.
“We have all four oils in our pharmacies, which can be given on the doctor’s prescription. This is why we have organized this symposium and training, in order for the prescription of these oils to be made by the doctor”, declared the head of the Agency for Medications, Marija Darkovska-Serafimovska.
She says that there’s a great interest by patients and that they must sign that they agree with the use of this oil. However, this must not be a replacement for the conventional therapy.
Ethan Russo, a neurologist from the US, who has arrived to FYROM to bring his 20 year experience of using cannabis as a remedy, says that when it is used accordingly, cannabis is a very safe and efficient medication.
“These medications have a broad use. The number of illnesses that it cures is small, but cannabis relieves pain. Its use in combination with other medications can have a positive effect on the treatment of the patient”, says neurologist Russo.
According to him, in the future, doctors from the country will be informed on the administration and recommendation of these medications.
Many patients have now used this drug and say that it has its effects. Mirjeta Lutfiu told IBNA that she has secured such medication several months ago and that it has been effective. “My husband has had problems with blood and during his therapy with cannabis oil which I was brought from abroad, there have been positive effects in the treatment of this illness. It is now a good thing that we find this medication in the drugs stores all over the country”, Mirjeta says.
Cannabis for medical purposes was legalized on 5 March of this year. /balkaneu.com/
