Sunday marked the start of the 35th international traditional festival of camera and film “Manaki Brothers”.
This festival is seeing the participation of renowned names from the world of film in the region and the guest of honor is the renowned French actor, Juliette Binoche, who this year is the winner of the award “Golden Camera 300” of this festival.
The French actor was given the award by the president of the country, George Ivanov, who said that this festival has a rich tradition and relates to the names of the first two cameramen in the Balkan.
“The two Manaki brothers from Manastir became the first cameramen in the Balkan. Thanks to their vision, we know more about the world and the century in which our predecessors lived. Thanks to their commitment, the country has organized the oldest film festival which holds their name for 35 years”, said president Ivanov, who is also the sponsor of the festival.
Awards were also given in this festival for Luca Bigazzi and Chriss Mengis. This festival will continue for five days in a row with the presentation of several films by renowned film directors from the region and the world. /ibna/
