What is needed is calmness, prudence and correct diplomatic actions, the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nicos Anastasiades, said today being asked to comment on the situation in the Cypriot EEZ with the Turkish provocations.
In his statement to journalists, on the sidelines of the reception he gave with his wife to the foreign Diplomatic and Consular Body at the Presidential Palace, on the occasion of his re-election, President Anastasiades, in response to a journalist’s question on the situation in the Cypriot EEZ, he said the following: “What is needed is calmness, prudence, correct diplomatic actions. I do not feel that anyone should worry. We are in cooperation with the EU, with friendly countris. We strive in every way, I repeat, to deal with any situation that the other side may seek to create, to avoid anything that will jeopardize either our security or, in general, our growth rate and our energy planning”.
Asked whether the leader of the Turkish Cypriot community is trying to delay his social meeting with President Anastasiades, so that when it takes place it will be close to the date of the session of Varna, the President of the Republic said: “I can not give an interpretation to the decisions of Mr Akinci. I said that I am ready to meet in order to clarify where everyone thinks or wants to go. We await”./IBNA
