Bulgaria’s exports in January – March 2019 up by 8.9% on annual basis

In January – March 2019, the total value of all goods exported from Bulgaria amounted to 13 942.1 million leva, about 8.9 per cent more than the same months of 2018, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said on May 13.

In March 2019 alone, the total exports of goods from Bulgaria added up to 4 733.3 million leva, an increase of five per cent compared to March 2018, the NSI said.

The total value of all the goods imported into Bulgaria in January – March 2019 was 15 253.2 million leva (at CIF prices), or 3.5 per cent more than January – March 2018.

In March 2019, the total imports of goods decreased by 0.1 per cent compared with March 2018 and added up to 5 113.4 million leva.

The total foreign trade balance (exports FOB – import CIF) was negative in the period January – March 2019 and amounted to 1 311.1 million leva.

At FOB/FOB prices (after elimination of transport and insurance costs on imports) in the period January – March 2019 the total foreign trade balance was also negative and added up to 264.6 million leva.

In March 2019 the total foreign trade balance (exports FOB – import CIF) was negative and added up to 380.1 million leva. The trade balance at FOB/FOB prices was also negative and amounted to 61.4 million leva.

In the period January – March 2019 the exports of goods from Bulgaria to third countries increased by 13.4 per cent in comparison with the same period of the previous year and added up to 4 335.0 million leva.

The main trading partners of Bulgaria were Turkey, China, Serbia, the United States, the Russian Federation and Republic of North Macedonia which accounted for 51.4 per cent of the exports to non EU countries.

In March 2019, exports of goods from Bulgaria to third countries increased by 10.4 per cent compared to the corresponding month of the previous year and amounted to 1 460.5 million leva.

Imports of goods to Bulgaria from third countries in the period January – March 2019 increased by 11.2 per cent in comparison with same period of 2018 and added up to 5 506.6 million leva.

The largest amounts were reported for goods imported from the Russian Federation, Turkey, China and Serbia.

In March 2019 the imports of goods to Bulgaria from third countries increased by 8.6 per cent compared to the corresponding month of the previous year and amounted to 1 596.7 million leva.

The foreign trade balance of Bulgaria (export FOB – import CIF) with third countries in the period January – March 2019 was negative and added up to 1 171.6 million leva. The trade balance at FOB/FOB prices (after elimination of transport and insurance costs on imports) was also negative and amounted to 687.9 million leva, the NSI said./ibna
