A regular poll by Bulgaria’s National Statistical Institute has found that in February 2016, the total business climate indicator increased by 0.5 percentage points compared to January, pushed up by increased optimism in industry, the retail trade and service sector.
The industry business climate indicator was 1.2 percentage points higher in February than in January, the NSI said.
However, in the construction sector, the business climate was down by 3.5 percentage points, with managers more pessimistic about the current business situation of their enterprises, even though their outlook on the six months was more favourable.
In the retail trade, the indicator was 2.8 percentage points up on January, boosted by retailers’ expectations for the next six months. They also were more optimistic about the volume of sales and orders placed with suppliers over the next three months, the NSI said.
In the service sector, the composite indicator was up by 0.9 percentage points compared with January, a result of managers’ favourable assessments and expectations about the business situation of their enterprises.
However, their opinions with regard to the present demand for services, as well their expectations over the next three months were more moderate, the institute said.
