Bulgaria: Provisions of the Health Law to be brought before the Constitutional Court

Bulgarian President Rumen Radev has repeatedly called on the authorities to draw up a structured and manageable state of emergency plan. The lack of a plan by the Council of Ministers has led to the adoption of the law on amendments to the Health Law at the very last minute, with vague and contradictory provisions, the press office of the head of state announced.

In order not to interrupt the social and economic support of the affected citizens and businesses in times of crisis, rising unemployment and loss of income, the President signed a decree issuing a law amending the law on health.

Following his firm position in defense of the Constitution and the fundamental rights and freedoms of its citizens, the head of state will be referring to the Constitutional Court certain texts that are contrary to the Basic Law. The president’s motives will be announced in the coming days, the press office of the head of state notes in an announcement. /ibna
