Bulgaria has met 74% of its energy-saving targets, in view of 2020.
As a result of the implementation of energy saving measures in all sectors of the economy, as well as the contribution of all debtors, according to official data 6,167 GWh of energy were saved during the 2014-208 period.
Bulgaria has thus fulfilled 74.1% of its national energy savings target by 2020, according to what is stated in the 2018 Annual Implementation Report of the National Energy Efficiency Action Plan 2014-2020, which was approved by the cabinet.
It is recalled that the EU’s policy, strategy and legislation regarding environmental, energy and climate goals for 2020 includes a 20% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, a 20% increase in the share of Renewable Energy Sources and a 20% increase in energy efficiency.
The EU requirements and all provisions by the European law are known and clear, as stated in a Community document, and the delays and “backslides” reported in some cases, which could jeopardize the whole European planning for Renewable Energy Sources, will not be accepted. /ibna
