The Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church will not be sending a representative to the meeting of the priests convened by Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem in the capital of Jordan Amman on February 26th.
In their announcement, the Bulgarian Archbishops state that the Bulgarian Patriarchate will be abstaining from the meeting.
“In connection with letters received from His Holiness Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos III, in which he invites the Presidents of the Orthodox Autocephalous Churches and their delegations in Amman, Jordan, the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Apostolic Church declares that it will be abstaining from the meeting mentioned above and consequently will not be sending its representatives to Amman, the capital of Jordan. The Sacred Synod expresses its personal brotherly love for His Beatitude Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos III and its deep respect for the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, the millennial guardian of the life-giving Tomb of the Lord”, the statement by the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church notes. /ibna
