Bulgaria: BSP motion of censure against the Government to be discussed Monday (July 20)

The National Assembly will hold an extraordinary plenary session on Monday (July 20) to discuss the motion of censure against Boyko Borissov’s government tabled by BSP. The proposal was also tabled by Parliament Speaker Tsveta Karayancheva and received the support of 172 MPs.

This will be the fifth consecutive attempt by the opposition to overthrow the Boyko Borissov 3 government. The issue of the vote is again related to corruption and will be discussed in the context of the ongoing demonstrations in Sofia and in several cities across the country.

The vote in the plenary will take place 24 hours after the end of the debates.

At the beginning of today’s plenary session, GERB Member of Parliament and Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs Dzhema Grozdanova resigned. The resignation was announced by Parliament Speaker Tsveta Karayancheva.

The motives for Grozdanova’s resignation and who will replace her from GERB have not been made clear./ibna
