Bulgaria annual CPI records 0.1% inflation in September

Bulgaria’s consumer price index (CPI) recorded 0.1 per cent annual inflation in September, despite 0.1 per cent monthly deflation in September, data from the National Statistical Institute (NSI) showed on October 14.

September’s CPI figure is the fourth time in five months that Bulgaria registered negative CPI growth (in August, monthly and annual consumer prices were flat).

Food prices rose by 1.5 per cent in September, while non-food prices fell by 0.9 per cent compared to August and services prices were 1.3 per cent lower. In annual terms, services prices were the main driver of CPI growth, rising by 2.6 per cent compared to September 2014, while food prices were 0.8 per cent higher and non-food prices were 3.1 per cent lower.
