Bratislava promises Kosovo support for the negotiations with the EU

Bratislava, November 14, 2013

After his visits to Berlin and Brussels, the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Enver Hoxhaj is staying on an official visit to Slovakia, upon the invitation of the deputy prime minister and Foreign and European Affairs Minister of the Republic of Slovakia, Miroslav Lajcak.

During the day, minister Hoxha has had a bilateral meeting with deputy prime minister Lajcak, where he has presented the progress which is being achieved in Kosovo.

Hoxhaj considered the opening of negotiations for the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) as a very important achievement in the path of Kosovo toward EU integration, stressing the strong engagement of the government in meeting the European integration agenda.

In this context, Hoxhaj has thanked minister Lajcak for the support of his country in the European perspective of Kosovo, including the opening of negotiations for SAA.

Minister Hoxhaj has stressed the great importance that this process has for Kosovo, as a contractual relationship between EU and Kosovo and an instrument for the reformation and construction of a European Kosovo.

Deputy prime minister and Foreign and European Affairs Minister of Slovakia, Miroslav Lajcak has congratulated minister Hoxhaj for the progress of Kosovo, the opening of negotiations for SAA and the holding of November 3 local government elections.

Minister Lajcak also reconfirmed the support of Slovakia for the processes in Kosovo, including the European path of Kosovo.

During this meeting, minister Hoxhaj and Lajcak have also talked about the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia, stressing the necessity of the full implementation of the agreements that have been reached.

Hoxhaj and Lajcak (photo) have agreed on strengthening bilateral cooperation between Kosovo and Slovakia.

During his stay to Bratislava, minister Enver Hoxhaj will also meet with the vice speaker of the parliament of Slovakia, Jan Figel and other Slovakian personalities.

The official visit of minister Hoxhaj to Bratislava is an important step in further advancement of cooperation and relations of Kosovo with Slovakia. /ibna/
