A general boycott of classes has been warned today in FYROM. High school students demand from the government to remove external tests and the state exams.
The heads of the so called “Plenum of High Schools” demand a meeting with the minister of Education and Science, Abdilaqim Ademi.
“We take this opportunity to call upon minister Ademi to receive us in a meeting and discuss our demands in order to achieve a joint solution. Otherwise, we will continue with our boycott”, reads the press statement of this organization.
Minister of Education called upon students to resume classes and according to him, there can be no positive outcome from the meeting that the students are demanding. The Ombudsman, Idzet Memeti demanded from the Minister of Education to heed students’ demands.
But what has sparked the reaction of high school students? With the latest changes in the format of the state exams, Math is obligatory only for students who are oriented toward Math and Natural Sciences. Even after this change, high school students demand the removal of Maths, the removal of external testing and the reintroduction of the old format of state exams. /ibna/
