Boycott of institutions in Albania is becoming a worrying phenomenon, is regretfully noted by MEP Eduard Kukan.

The concern about the boycott currently being made by the right wing opposition and previously by the left for a long time, was discussed in the Brussels’ meeting where for around two hours, Foreign Committee of the European Parliament discussed about the European perspective of Western Balkan countries.

“I praise this year’s positive steps in launching the negotiations with Albania”, declared Eduard Kukan. On the other hand, -he added-, boycott of parliament in Skopje and Tirana is becoming a worrying practice.

Meanwhile, the head of the committee, Elmar Brook, said that there will not be new EU accessions until 2019. “We support the accession of the six Western Balkan countries. There won’t be enlargement for the next five years, but this is merely a technical issue”, said Mr. Brook.

MEPs were in favor of the accession of West Balkan countries, but they demanded the Thessalonica agenda to be followed for these countries, adding that there regional cooperation is needed. /ibna/
