Bulgaria has responded more quickly and adequately to both the health and financial threat of the COVID-19 pandemic, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov wrote this morning on his personal Facebook account.
“Our measures started early and covered many people. According to the 60/40 program alone, more than 300,000 jobs were saved. We were one of the first countries to present the measures and the results so far show that they work perfectly. At the same time, for those affected by the crisis “Transport”, “Hotel and restaurant” and “Tourism” we changed the measure to 80/20, resulting in the support of more than 700 companies with a total amount of 43.5 million leva; the very small companies received almost 110 million leva for free and medium-sized enterprises will receive an amount of 200 million leva. If the government measures did not work, the unemployment rate would be 14%, and now it is at the level of 7.5%”, reads a post posted on Borissov’s profile.
In conclusion, he states that global experts have unanimously said that the most difficult times for our health systems and economies are ahead.
“We must be prudent and flexible in our decisions to minimize the damage from the crisis. But as the data shows, we are on the right track”, Borissov concluded./ibna
