President of Albania, Bujar Nishani has sent back the bill on “The organization and functioning of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Albania”, amended.

According to the president, this bill has not been consulted with the President of the Republic, as it’s claimed, by sending it back to parliament.

In his arguments, the president says that MPs have raised the need of legal amendments through the appointment of a Committee attached to the President for the selection of nominations and to intervene in other aspects as far as the criteria of selection is concerned, claiming that they’re applying the rulings of the Constitutional Court in relation to the Supreme Court.

According to the head of the state, the incentive is hastened and has not been consulted with EURALIUS, OSCE and Venice Commission.

The president says that it has been proved that this law doesn’t serve its scope and causes a negative image in front of international partners referring to their expectations as far as the reform in justice is concerned. /ibna/
