“Now is the moment the Chancellor is convinced that the time is right to have a thorough discussion with Mr. Tsipras”, said the government spokesman of the German government Stefen Seibert, responding to the question as to why Chancellor Merkel waited so long to invite the Greek Prime Minister in Berlin.
Referring to the agenda of the meeting, Zaibert noted that the issues are – certainly – obvious and added:
“But I can and cannot predict what issues the Prime Minister might want to discuss. It is absolutely clear that the issue will be to discuss the situation that has arisen between Greece and the other members of the eurozone and to see how we, on the basis of the agreement of February 20, move to a successful completion of this program”.
Telephone conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, on the subject of Greece had on Wednesday the US president, Barack Obama.
In view of the summit in Brussels, Obama asked Merkel to try to find a solution and to have a realistic agreement for Greece.
According to information broadcasted by MEGA television on Greece, the US President also reviewed with the German Chancellor the latest developments in Greece and the efforts to reach a real agreement that would “build” on the recent reforms so that the country returns to growth within the Eurozone.
