Albanian party in power, BDI (Democratic Union for Integration) has withdrawn from its conditions according to which it would reconsider its participation in the government if the process of NATO accession along with the date for the launch of negotiations with the EU failed
When it joined the government five months ago, this party conditioned its participation with the accession of the country in the NATO until the September summit, but this party continues to be part of the government in spite of the failure to achieve these objectives.
Senior member of BDI and current deputy PM, Musa Xhaferri said that it’s not a good thing to impose ultimatums for processes as difficult as this one.
“These topics are very sensitive and have a regional and European reflection and they cannot be conditioned with 1, 5, or 6 months. We all know the obstacles that exist for the accession in the NATO. We don’t help the process if we impose ultimatums”, declared Xhaferri.
Asked if a new agreement is expected with the coalition partner or if fresh elections will be demanded, Xhaferri added that early elections are not in the best interest of the country. /ibna/
