Leader of the Albanian party BDI (Democratic Union for Integration), Ali Ahmeti demanded for the FBI to investigate the murder to five Macedonians in April 12, 2012 in Smilkovc, Skopje.

He said that he has requested the involvement of FBI to the American authorities, as the imprisonment of six Albanians for this murder has sparked protests from Albanians and he considers them innocent people who have been sentenced in a politically orchestrated process.

“Although this is a judicial issue, this directly affects cross ethnic relations. To us, they are very important. We believe that international monitoring would make the process more credible, which is very complicated in itself”, said Ahmeti.

According to him, prime minister Gruevski has agreed with the possibility of the involvement of the FBI in the investigation for the murder of five Macedonians in April 2012.

At the start of July this year, the six Albanians were found guilty and were sentenced to life in prison for the murder taken place on the evening of April 12 near the artificial lake of Smikovc in the suburbs of Skopje. This ruling sparked violent protests on July 4 and the angry protesters attacked the court and clashed with the police. /ibna/
