Leader of the Albanian party in power, BDI (Democratic Union for Integration), Ali Ahmeti demanded today for the European Commission, as the most relevant institution, to be involved in talks for the solution of the political crisis.
Ahmeti stressed this following a meeting held in Tetovo with the EU ambassador to Skopje, Aivo Orav.
“Political dialogue and negotiations must be intensified in order for the political crisis to be overcome as soon as possible. The European Commission must be directly involved by determining the agenda for the parties which are involved, but at the same time, they must also monitor the judicial trial which will guarantee credibility for all sides”, Ahmeti said.
According to him, Washington can play a constructive role in encouraging sides to commit themselves in overcoming the political crisis.
“The political crisis is threatening the expectations of the citizens for a stable, safer Macedonia integrated in the NATO and negotiation for EU accession. A country with good cross ethnic relations and good neighboring relations and with optimal conditions for a sustainable economic development. Political parties must do everything they can in order to meet people’s expectations, but also to show their readiness to guarantee stability and democratic capacity by the institutions of the country to face the political crisis”, declared the head of BDI.
On his part, Euro ambassador Orav avoided comments in regards to this meeting. /ibna/
