Jose Manuel Barroso sent a clear message to the partners of Greece. The former European Commission President in an interview with the BBC called on Europeans to stop processing Grexit scenarios and come up with a definitive solution to the greek problem.
“Sometimes I have the impression that people expect an accident that would enable them to actually avoid a bigger disaster”, he said referring to Europeans.
Barroso made it clear that discussions should not be delayed any further: “It has been a long time without finding a solution. I think it is important now to find that solution”.
He warned that any negative development will weight heavily both Greece and the Eurozone: “It will definitely be negative for Greece and the eurozone if there is default, bankruptcy, or if there is a Grexit. But I think a solution can still be reached”.
