Government of FYROM has issued a decision for a temporary prohibition of import of chicken meat and eggs from the Netherlands, Germany and Great Britain, following news about the possibility that these countries may have been affected by a new bird flu which also affects humans.
“After the analyses carried out in our country so far, there has been no presence of this flu registered on birds, but we’re following the instructions of the European Commission in relation to measures against this flu. This is why we have temporarily decided to ban imports of chicken and other chicken products from three countries: the Netherlands, Germany and Great Britain”, reads the press statement from the Agency for Veterinary and Food.
Preventing measures are expected to be put in place in Europe and these are expected to include critical areas where bird farms are located and these firms will not be allowed to sell chicken to other EU member countries or other countries. /ibna/
