Banking system in Albania reported earnings during the month of July. According to the figures issued by the Bank of Albania, progressive profit for the first seven months of the year was 12.6 billion lek, as opposed to 11 billion in the first six months. Meanwhile, compared to the same period last year, profits in the banking system registered a fall of 10%.
Return on capital for the banking system was 14.6% and this is considered to be a positive figure considering the high levels of non-performance loans.
One of the key factors thanks to which the banking system in the country continued to make profits this year was the improvement of the quality of banking activities. According to the Bank of Albania, at the end of July, NPLs accounted for 13.4% of total loans, 2% lower than last year. /ibna/
