Governor of the Bank of Albania, Ardian Fullani declared today that the Oversight Committee of the Bank of Albania decided to keep the base interest rate on Lek unchanged.
Presenting the monthly report of the monetary policy of the Central Bank, governor Fullani declared that the base interest rate remains at 2.75%.
The head of the Central Bank also added that inflation in the month of February was 1.9%. Nevertheless, Fullani declared that imported inflation has been controlled. He also said that the banking system in the country is safe although in its report, the International Monetary Fund stressed that the financial system is in difficulties.
The governor demanded from banks to be more active in lending. According to him, the banking system in Albania is showing signs of recovery by maintaining stability and by showing readiness to credit the economy. /ibna/
