In an interview with Turkish news agency Anadolu, the Bosniak member of Bosnia-Herzegovina’s tripartite presidency, Bakir Izetbegovic praised and thanked Turkey for standing by Bosnia’s side, for which, 2017 was not the easiest of years.
More specifically, after going back to 2017’s major moments for his country and considering relations of Balkan states with Turkey, the Bosniak politician said that, “Bosnia-Herzegovina is a friend of Turkey.”
Izetbegovic described the Turkish policy in connection with countries in the region as “calming and constructive.”
“Turkey is providing assistance to the region in the peace process and also making investments in Ottoman heritage in the region and contributing to countries’ tourism potential,” Izetbegovic said.
Anadolu reports that, according to Izetbegovic, Ankara supports all of Bosnia-Herzegovina’s priorities such as its bids to join both the European Union and NATO, adding that, “Peace in the region, better regional relations, and economic development are all examples of this.”…/IBNA
